Solutions for the industry
This solution generates significant energy savings on the arcs of the track. Our solution is protected by an international patent application.
The invention is based on the application of a thin layer of bronze to the edge of the wheel which is in contact with the head of the rail. This is intended to lower the coefficient of friction between the surfaces so that
the need for wheel and rail lubrication can be eliminated. The thin layer of bronze is permanently connected to the steel of the wheel, it does not accumulate sand on its surface, it does not change its parameters under the influence of temperature changes and does not run off and pollute the ground, and the components of the used bronze are non-toxic.
Increased level of safety
Simulations of the Silesian University of Technology and the Cracow University of Technology have shown that a thin layer of bronze reduces the risk of derailment.
The testing process
Tests using a full-size wheel set showed that the steel wheel wear depth in a steel-on-steel system was 0.89 mm.
Unprecedented durability
- The steel-on-steel wear was about 3% of the total weight of the sample used.
- The temperature of the railway and tram wheel in the process of applying a layer of bronze up to 1 mm thick did not exceed 80°C.
